Chennai Police apprehended history-sheeter P Manikandan, alias 'CD' Mani, in Salem. His father has called on authorities to ensure his safety and provide reasons for the arrest. Despite claims of leading a reformed life, police sources indicate that several non-bailable warrants may still be pending against him.
Over the past ten months, Tamil Nadu police have confiscated more than 208 tonnes of banned gutka products and registered 21,761 cases. The food safety department imposed fines amounting to Rs 17.02 crore and sealed 10,155 shops. Joint operations inspected three lakh shops, leading to significant arrests and product seizures.
