Security guard foils burglary attempt at jewellery shop
Krishnagiri: A burglary attempt in a jewellery shop at Pochampalli was thwarted after a private bank's security guard acted swiftly and alerted police in the early hours of Tuesday.
G Krishnan, 49, of Pochampalli, has been running a jewellery shop for more than 25 years. He closed the shop as usual on Monday night and went to his house.
Around 2am, ICICI bank security guard V Singaravelan, 55, who was on duty in the adjacent building, saw a person entering Krishnan’s jewellery shop.

He immediately alerted the Pochampalli police. Police came to the shop and caught the person.
Police identified the burglar as A Kiran Kumar, 28, of Veeramalai village near Pochampalli.
“Kiran Kumar has many cases pending against him in several police stations,” Bargur DSP Prithviraj Chauhan said. He said a gang of five people have planned to burgle the jewellery shop.
The DSP said they have seized three sovereigns of gold chain from him. “We have formed three teams to nab the gang,” the DSP added.
A case was registered, and further inquiry is on.
