DHARMAPURI: Water inflow suddenly increased in the Cauvery River in Dharmapuri district on Tuesday night. Water Resources Department (WRD) said that the inflow was measured at 200 cusecs till Tuesday evening, and it suddenly jumped up to 6,000 cusecs on the same night.
What WRD officials said about sudden Cauvery water rise
- WRD officials said that the sudden increase could have been due to recent rains in the catchment areas.
- The water level at the Mettur dam stood at 62.3 feet against its full capacity of 120 feet.
- The officials were releasing 1,000 cusecs per day for drinking water purposes while the inflow was just 67 cusecs.
- The freshwater may reach the Mettur dam on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
