Plea to not shift office of Tangedco
Chennai: Tangedco recently said it is shifting its Semmanchery section office from Anna Road in Bharati Nagar to a substation in Thazhambur, but residents of Semmanchery are against it. They said the new location is too far and would be inaccessible to pay bills at counters and report grievances.
"For two decades, the office served the needs of residents and commercial establishments.

The existing office is strategically situated, allowing easy access for consumers to address their grievances, pay bills, and seek assistance. Relocation would increase travel time, expenses, andhardship for the public," said Satish Galley, resident of Semmancheri.
The section office, where the assistant engineer for the area was based, had been operating out of a building provided by GCC. Although Tangedco did not incur any rent for the space, officials said the office has been relocated to Tangedco's unmanned substation in Thazhambur for operational reasons. From next week, the office would function from the new location, officials added. The existing office got inundated during monsoon last year and became inaccessible, said Tangedco officials.
