Abandoned newborn saved
Rajkot: Past midnight on Thursday, it was raining with lightning and Morbi road in Rajkot was deserted. Few street dogs were barking. A curious passer-by tried to check why the dogs were barking, and in the process, he saved a life.
When he approached the spot, he saw a newborn baby abandoned on the roadside. He soon contacted the 108 services and the baby was saved.

He called 108 around 12.52am.
The child was found on street number-1 at Akshar Park Society near Morbi road Jakat Naka. Emergency medical technician (EMT) Bhavesh Vadher with pilot Ghanshyam Dangar reached the spot and they informed the police.
The 108 team found that the child was a boy and his health was deteriorating because of the weather. Vadher contacted a physician in Ahmedabad and provided a treatment in the ambulance before shifting the boy to the Women and Children’s Hospital on the Civil Hospital campus.
The doctors attending to the child said it was possible that the child was lying on the road for more than an hour. The 108 service programme manager in Rajkot, Chetan Gadhe, said: “The newborn baby was suffering form hypoglycaemia and swelling in the hands which looked like a fracture injury. But now the baby is stable. It was fortunate that the dogs did not bite the child.”
