PUDUCHERRY: The tenure of
Pondicherry University vice-chancellor Gurmeet Singh ended on Thursday, said a circular from the registrar in-charge Rajneesh Bhutani.
Singh was given a one-year extension after the completion of a five-year term as vice-chancellor. Singh’s five-year tenure expired on November 23 last year.
Representatives of the service associations of the university urged the Union government to declare the resolution passed by the executive council convened a day before the Singh's tenure as invalid, illegal and injurious to larger public interest.
The executive council had approved appointment of people in key posts, they alleged.
