AIZAWL:
Mizoram chief minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday outlined the challenges his govt has faced in implementing its flagship Hand Holding Policy, known in Mizo as 'Bana Kaih', citing significant outstanding debts as the primary hurdle.
Speaking at the Mizoram State Policy Coordination Committee meeting in Aizawl, Lalduhoma said, "Due to the need to clear the state's financial liabilities, we cannot implement the Hand Holding Policy on a large scale just yet.
However, we have made significant progress in reducing our debts. As this year has been declared the 'Year of Consolidation,' we remain steadfast in our commitment to achieving better financial stability and continued improvement."
Despite these challenges, Lalduhoma assured that the state government will purchase the four identified crops during the current fiscal year.
The meeting also delved into loan-based progress partners, the Zau Policy or cluster cultivation of the same crops, and guidelines for line departments.
