The Met office also cautioned that “thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura” on Monday. As the week progresses, the intensity of rain is expected to increase.
The IMD further warned that on Wednesday and Thursday, thunderstorm and lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places over the seven northeastern states. Additionally, heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on these two days.
The Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD on Sunday evening said moderate rain is expected to occur in many areas across all the seven northeastern states over the next 24 hours. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Tripura during this period.
The change in weather is expected to bring a cooling effect in and around Guwahati. The local forecast for Guwahati and its surroundings indicates that generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours are likely. Maximum and minimum temperatures in Guwahati are likely to be 35 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
