15kg silver ornaments stolen from Jain temple in Salem dist
Salem: Unidentified miscreants broke into a Jain temple at Shevapet area here in the early hours of Sunday and made away with 15 kilograms of silver ornaments worth 10 lakh. The Shevapet police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated an inquiry.
A police officer said the Jain temple was located on Muniappan Temple Street.

“When the temple priests and workers came to the place of worship in the morning, they found that the main door lock was broken open and the silver ornaments being used to adorn the deity were missing.”
The temple authorities immediately alerted the Shevapet police, who launched a probe into the incident. “The burglars broke into the temple at 2am. They had covered their faces with masks. We have collected CCTV footage from the location and are trying to identify the burglars,” the officer said.
