Bhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday inaugurated the construction work of the Bahoriband lift micro irrigation project. The project will cost Rs 1011 crore.
The project will help farmers of 151 villages of Bahoriband tehsil of Katni district to irrigate 32,000 hectares of area. This will include 18,800 hectares of 86 villages of Bahoriband tehsil, 9,345 hectares of 43 villages of Sleemanabad tehsil, 2,500 hectares of 17 villages of Reethi tehsil, and 1,355 hectares of agricultural land in five villages of Katni tehsil.
The irrigation facility to 151 villages will be provided by lifting 128.50 MCM (12.39 cumecs) water from RD 102.50 km of the right bank main canal of Bargi dam from village Bhanpura tehsil Dhimarkheda.
With this, 23m of pressurised water will be provided to a 2.5-hectare area through an underground pipe canal system. Farmers can then irrigate their lands using sprinklers and drip systems. The speciality of this method is that farmers will benefit from more irrigation and better production with less water, said an official press release.
