Agra: A 32-year-old man allegedly strangled his seven-year-old daughter to death for complaining about him to police, in a village within the Ghiror police station area of Mainpuri.
According to villagers, Ram Mohan Jatav had a dispute with his wife on Friday. The wife had complained about this to the police. When the police arrived in the afternoon to investigate, their daughter Muskaan told police that her father had beaten her mother.
When Jatav returned home late in the evening, he found out that his daughter had complained about him to the police. Enraged by this, he strangled her and fled the spot.
On information from locals, police rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy. SP (rural) Anil Kumar said, "Accused Jatav works as a daily wager. Efforts are being made to arrest him. Further investigation is ongoing and action will be taken accordingly."
Ghiror SHO Chatrapal Singh, "A case under section 103 (Murder) of BNS has been registered. The accused is absconding, and a police team has been deployed to arrest him."
The victim's mother, Poonam Devi (30) said, "He was drunk and beat me up brutally after which he left the house. My relatives called the police about the incident. During the investigation, my daughter told police about the incident. The police left after advising us to come to the police station to file a report. My husband, in my absence, came home in the evening, and when he got to know that my daughter had complained against him, he beat her up badly and strangled her to death."
