Woman held with `1.5-crore smuggled gold at Trichy airport
Trichy: The air intelligence unit (AIU) of the customs department at Trichy International Airport caught a woman passenger with smuggled gold worth `1.53 crore on Tuesday.
The customs department stated on Wednesday that it seized 2,291 grams of gold ornaments in 24 karat and 22 karat purity valued approximately at Rs 1.53 crore from a woman. Acting on intelligence, AIU officials checked the passengers who arrived at Trichy airport from Kaula Lumpur on an Air Asia flight on Monday midnight.

The procedures were completed on Tuesday.
