Kullu: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said 600 staff nurses and 43 operation theatre assistants (OTAs) would be deployed at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH), Shimla, to ensure prompt and efficient medical care for patients.
Additionally, 30 posts of medical officers (MOs) are being filled to strengthen the department of emergency medicines at the IGMC, said Sukhu.
While presiding over a meeting of the health department on Monday, the CM said the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties in Shimla would offer super-specialty services and the state govt would provide better working conditions for the doctors and the supporting staff.
“A study will be conducted to identify prevalent ailments and high-footfall OPDs, enabling the govt to increase doctor strength and facilities proportionally,” said Sukhu.
The CM assured that funds were available to incorporate modern technologies and equipment, while allocating Rs 25 crore for the modernization of the IGMC.
