Shillong: Meghalaya Police sub-inspector Amit Sinha died in a road accident in Gurgaon on Saturday, police said.
The accident occurred between 3.30am and 3.50am near Sanar International Hospital, they added.
Sinha, who was attached with the office of the superintendent of police, Ri Bhoi district, was on an official visit to Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Chandigarh.
“At the time of the incident, he was travelling with his friend Digvijay Singh to Gurugram Sector 58 for dinner at a restaurant,” SP (Ri-Bhoi) Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.
When Sinha and Singh were returning in a Mercedes Benz, it was suddenly hit by an unknown vehicle from behind.
“The vehicle, which was being driven by Digvijay Singh, lost control after it was hit,” police said.
