Conrad meets Shah over border security
Shillong: CM Conrad K Sangma and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday met Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss and review the security arrangements along the border that Meghalaya shares with strife-torn Bangladesh
“We had a meeting to review the overall situation in the border areas, keeping in mind the turmoil in Bangladesh. We briefed the home minister about the good work being done by the BSF and the Army and said Meghalaya Police is also on high alert,” the CM said.

Stating that he also apprised Shah of the night curfew the state govt has clamped all along the international border, he told him that no individual should be allowed to cross the border .
“The home minister assured us that the Govt of India is not going to allow any individual to cross over and all measures are being taken to ensure that the border is securely guarded so that no movement takes place across the border. We have also urged the Centre to provide more manpower, if necessary, along the border areas,” the CM said.
Meanwhile, the BSF Meghalaya Frontier and the state police apprehended seven Bangladesh nationals who were attempting to illegally jump the border on Saturday.
