RAJKOT: A 24-year-old driver was killed allegedly by his maternal uncle and his family members at Dhokaliya village of Paddhari taluka in Rajkot district on Sunday, allegedly because the man was having illicit relations with his cousin sister. The deceased was identified as Jaydeep Meriya.
Police have arrested four accused identified as Pravin Muchadiya, his son Rasik Muchadiya, Pravin’s younger brother Govind Muchadiya, and Govind’s wife Kanchan Muchadiya.
The accused attacked Jaydeep with sticks and pipes, leading to his death on the border of Dhokaliya village. Jaydeep’s younger brother, 23-year-old Khushal Meriya, filed a complaint at Paddhari police station.
In his complaint, Khushal stated that he lives with his family near Parshuram Chowk in Raiya village near Rajkot city. They are originally from Veja village in Rajkot district.
On Sunday, around 8.30pm, his father Hamir called him and informed him that Jaydeep had been killed and his body was lying near a tree on Ishwariya-Khambhala Road. Soon, Khushal, Hamir, and Khushal’s cousin Sanjay Dafda rushed to the spot in a car and found Jaydeep’s body there.
According to Khushal, about 12 days back, Pravin had told Hamir that Jaydeep should not come to Dhokaliya else he would be killed.
