Rajkot: The Jamnagar district administration has banned the production, sale, and use of glue traps for catching rats, following directives from the Gujarat Animal Welfare Board in Gandhinagar. The district collector issued a statement emphasizing that the use of glue traps is in violation of the Animal Cruelty Act, as rats endure immense suffering.
The administration stressed the importance of controlling the rat population without contravening the Animal Cruelty Act. The notification stated, “Because of glue traps, a rat dies a painful death due to dehydration, hunger, and suffocation.”
Mayor holds Lok Darbar
Rajkot: Rajkot mayor Nayna Pedhadiya launched the public meeting program ‘Mayor at your door’ on Monday, receiving 82 applications from ward 1 on the first day. The program will be held in all 18 wards of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC). During the programme also known as ‘Lok Darbar’ the mayor received the most complaints, 28, related to the solid waste department, followed by 25 concerning the estate department. Other grievances were related to drainage, town planning, traffic and transport, and anti-encroachment. Corporators and officials from the RMC attended the program.
