Patna: BJP national president and Union health minister J P Nadda on Saturday inaugurated superspecialty blocks at govt medical college and hospitals in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur. Nadda, who was on a two-day visit to Bihar, also inspected the land allocated for the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga.
Each superspecialty block, costing Rs 150 crore, is equipped with 210 beds.
Addressing the gathering at Muzaffarpur's Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Nadda said, “Bihar has been given unique gifts in the health sector by PM Narendra Modi and this is due to the contributions of CM Nitish Kumar and the efforts of state health minister Mangal Pandey.” He added that residents of Muzaffarpur will no longer need to travel to Patna or Delhi for complex surgeries or treatments.
Nadda also visited the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre on the SKMCH premises. Earlier, he had toured Patna Medical College Hospital, where he reviewed the progress of the upcoming 5,462-bed hospital being constructed at a cost of Rs 5,540 crore. On social media platform X, Nadda wrote, “The PMCH will provide modern world-class services. The NDA govt under the leadership of PM Modi is dedicated to establishing grand health institutions, renovating them and eliminating regional imbalances in basic infrastructure. I congratulate all the people of Bihar for this revolutionary achievement in the field of health.”
PMCH superintendent Dr I S Thakur said Nadda expressed satisfaction with the progress and informed that the first phase of the project would be inaugurated by February next year.
On Friday, Nadda had inaugurated superspecialty blocks at govt medical colleges and hospitals in Gaya and Bhagalpur, and an upgraded regional institute of ophthalmology at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna.
