Nashik: The Nashik district unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) is keen to contest eight of the 15 state assembly seats in Nashik district in the upcoming state assembly elections.
The district unit has already sent a report about the seats to be contested on to the party leadership in Mumbai. During the 2019 assembly polls, the undivided Shiv Sena had won two seats in the district.
Both the sitting MLAs, Dada Bhuse from Malegaon Outer and Suhas Kande from Nandgaon, are now with the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena.
Sena (UBT) district president Sudhakar Badgujar, while talking to TOI, said in 2019 the undivided Shiv Sena had an alliance with the BJP and had contested on nine out of the 15 seats.
“This time Sena (UBT) is a part of the MVA. However, we are keen to contest eight assembly seats which the party can win. We have already submitted our report to the party leadership,” Badgujar said.
“These eight seats are Malegaon Outer, Nandgaon, Nashik Central, Nashik West, Deolali, Sinnar, Niphad, and Dindori. The seat allocation is to be decided by the MVA leaders during their joint meetings. We will contest the seats as per the decision taken by our party leaders,” he added.
According to party sources, Sena (UBT) may field Advay Hiray against sitting Shiv Sena MLA and district guardian minister Dada Bhuse from Malegaon Outer assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, Badgujar is himself keen to contest from Nashik West assembly constituency, while former mayor Vasant Gite wants to contest from Nashik Central constituency. The Nashik unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) has already started preparations for the elections that are expected to be held in November.
