Mys hosp submits proposal for five dialysis machines
Mysuru: The state-run district hospital on KRS Road in Mysuru city is planning to expand its dialysis services by adding five more dialysis machines to its existing five machine unit.
The current unit was established to reduce the burden on KR Hospital and has treated around 800 kidney patients in the last three months, indicating a growing need for these services.

The number of patients receiving treatment has increased from four to 12 per day since the unit’s inception four months ago.
The hospital provides treatment to kidney patients from all categories, including BPL and APL card holders. Expert doctors and technicians have been assigned to provide dialysis services. Among the five machines installed, one is dedicated to treating HIV positive patients, while the remaining four are used for other patients. Single-user dialysis machines are employed to prevent infections, according to a hospital technician. Patients can receive free treatment by obtaining a Rs 10 outpatient receipt at the hospital. Currently, the hospital offers dialysis treatment to 12 patients daily across three shifts.
Speaking to STOI, Dr J Harisprasad, resident medical officer of the district hospital, stated that he had submitted a proposal to the state health department requesting allocation of five additional dialysis machines due to the increasing number of patients visiting the hospital each day. He emphasised that patients with kidney ailments can receive free treatment at the hospital.
