Woman consumes poison after live-in partner refuses to marry

Shamli: A 30-year-old woman from Haryana allegedly consumed poison on Monday after her live-in partner refused to marry her.
She visited Shamli collectorate to file a complaint but suddenly collapsed, leading to the discovery of a ‘suicide note' in her possession.
The woman has claimed that her partner physically abused her under the pretence of marriage. He promised to marry her but has since reneged on that promise.
Circle officer (CO) Amardeep Maurya said, "Upon receiving information about poisoning, police teams rushed to the scene and took the woman to a district hospital for treatment.She is currently in stable condition. We are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter."
According to officials, necessary actions are underway based on previous complaints received in this matter.
