Cong has double standards on reservation policy: Mayawati

Lucknow: BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday said that Congress and Rahul Gandhi's reservation policy for SC, ST, and OBC is deceptive and has double standards.
"In our country, they support reservation for these communities to get their vote and also advocate increasing the reservation to more than 50%. However, when abroad, they talk of scrapping the reservation provision.People need to be cautious of their double standards," she said.
"It is a fact that their (Congress) govt at the centre did not implement the Mandal Commission's report on OBC reservation," said the BSP chief, adding, "At the same time, Congress did not let the bill on constitutional amendment, to make reservation in promotion effective for SCs and STs, pass in the parliament. The bill was introduced after BSP struggled for it. It is still pending."
Their govt also did not plead in the court in this matter, said Mayawati.
"The Congress govt in the centre did not get the caste census done. Now, talking about it, when out of power, isn't that hypocrisy," Mayawati wondered
