Kolhapur: Members of the Shaktipeeth Highway Virodhi Kruti Samiti have threatened to
protest in front of deputy chief minister
Ajit Pawar, who will arrive in Kolhapur district on Sunday.
Pawar will be in the district to attend inaugural events in Ichalkaranji and Kagal and will also address Jansanman Melawa in Kolhapur city.
Girish Phonde, coordinator of the Shaktipeeth samiti, said, “Farmers across 12 districts have been protesting against the Shaktipeeth highway for the past four months.
However, the deputy chief minister has not taken a stand yet. Farmers have already announced a ban on the entry of ministers in Kolhapur. Pawar should discuss the issue with the CM and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and cancel the proposed road before coming to Kolhapur.”
Meanwhile, NCP district president Babasaheb Patil-Asurlekar said Ajit Pawar will inaugurate the Rashtravadi Bhavan office in Ichalkaranji city at 10am and then head to Kolhapur city at noon for a public address.
Later, he will be in Kagal at 5pm to attend the inauguration of various development works. TNN
