Kanpur: Archit, Jayesh Verma, Anshuman, and Shaurya Yadav emerged victorious in their respective weight categories at the district-level junior boys boxing championship held at Green Park stadium on Tuesday. The event was inaugurated by deputy director of sports at the Regional Sports Office, RN Singh. In the evening, he presented the prizes to the winners.

Boxing championship organised at Green Park

Amit Jaiswal, the organizer, stated in a media meet that there would be two tournaments played on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday league will feature 10 teams, while the Sunday league will have 24 teams participating. The Sunday league teams have been divided into four groups, with each team playing 16 matches. The top two teams will advance to the knockout phase.
The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 51,000, while the runner-up team will be awarded Rs 31,000. The two semi-finalist teams will each receive Rs 15,000. All matches will be of 30 overs each. Each team must field two players aged 30 years, four players between 30 and 35 years, four players between 35 and 40 years, and two players above 40 years.
Basketball: Host Purnachandra School advanced to the finals in both the boys’' and girls’ groups at the inter-public school invitation basketball tournament on Tuesday. In the girls’ group semi-finals, Purnachandra school outplayed Virendra Swarup Shyam Nagar by 24-3, while Ganges World beat Mariyampur by 13-6 in the second semi-final. In the boys’ group, the host school defeated Sriram Education Centre Panki by 21-0 in a one-sided semi-final, while VS Shyamnagar triumphed over VS Cant. by 38-26 in another semi-final.
