BOKARO: A Class 10 student of Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro, Rupesh Kumar, has developed a special device and mobile application, 'Rakshak', to provide medical facilities to road accident victims within the shortest possible period of time. For this innovation, Rupesh has been selected for the 'Inspire Award Standard Scheme' by the Union government.
The Centre has given him an incentive of Rs 10,000 to further the project, said DPS sources.
All hospitals located within a one-kilometer radius of the accident site will get information along with the location of the vehicle through call and SMS as soon as the incident occurs. An ambulance can reach the injured person within the shortest possible period of time. The family members of the occupants of the vehicle as well as the police will also be informed immediately. Besides, the car drivers registered in the said app will get the location and information of the accident.
The principal of DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar, said, "Many accident victims lose their lives as they cannot reach the hospital in time. Hence, the device prepared by Rupesh can prove to be very effective. The school is proud of his achievements."
Rupesh said all details of the driver, including his name, home address, blood group, and the mobile numbers of the relatives are registered in the app on the device.
"The device detects the speed of the car and alerts the driver when the speed exceeds the safe limit. It also relays a message to the registered mobile numbers based on the sudden pressure caused by the shock on the vehicle," he added.
