UDHAMPUR: The Udhampur district police in Jammu and Kashmir have taken a man into custody for allegedly possessing 25 grams of heroin in the city, according to an official statement. The accused, a resident of Maralian, Jammu, was reportedly planning to sell the heroin in Udhampur.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Udhampur, Joginder Singh, provided further details, stating, "Udhampur Police arrested a person with 25 grammes of Chitta (heroin).
Based on a tip-off about the accused, a team was formed and the accused was apprehended."
The police are currently interrogating the accused and investigating his connections to determine the source and potential buyers of the heroin. Singh assured that the public would be informed if any additional information comes to light during the investigation. He expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing that "25 grammes of heroin could have affected many young people."
The SSP highlighted the authorities' commitment to combating the drug menace through legal means, awareness campaigns, and public involvement. "We are determined to fight against this drug menace, as the future belongs to our youth. We want to give them a drug-free society, said the official further.
