According to the notice, the charge sheet will be submitted on the same day, and Gurjar has been instructed to be present in court at 10am.
ACB had raided the residence of Gurjar back in 2023, had arrested her husband Sushil Gurjar and two brokers, Narayan Singh and Anil Dubey, the same day for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. During the search, several files related to land leases and Rs 41 lakh in cash were also recovered from the mayor’s house. ACB later said its investigations revealed the mayor’s involvement in this case.
Urban Development and Housing minister Jhabar Singh Kharra had said on Monday that the state govt will remove Gurjar, who belongs to Congress, promptly after ACB files a charge sheet against her in court. Sources said the govt plans to appoint a BJP councillor as the new mayor. He also said the interim mayor will be chosen irrespective of party affiliations.
