Indore: Tejaji Nagar police on Wednesday arrested a man and seized 1.66 kg of cannabis worth Rs 25,000 from him.
DCP Vinod Meena said that during a routine vehicle check on Agra-Bombay highway at Sati Tekri Hanuman Temple service road bypass, police officers spotted a man riding a bike attempting to evade a checkpoint. Police caught the accused and after a search of his motorcycle, 1.66 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 25,000 was found.
The man — identified as Ashik alias Asif alias Mama Khan, 44, a resident of Kohinoor Nagar — was arrested under relevant sections of NDPS Act. During questioning, he disclosed that the cannabis was smuggled from Maharashtra via Sendhwa border. Probe is on to trace origins and supply chain of narcotics.
