GUWAHATI: Unidentified people vandalised and set afire the ancestral house of Manipur BJP spokesman from the Thadou tribe, T Michael Lamjathang Haokip, in Churachandpur district Saturday. The arson happened when members of the Kuki-Zo community were taking out rallies demanding a separate administration and protesting against an audio clip containing objectionable comments made allegedly by CM N Biren Singh.

CMO has called the audio doctored.
Last Sunday, unidentified people vandalised Haokip's own house in which his parents and four families displaced by the violence live. After the attack, a video appeared on social media of a man brandishing a gun and a bullet and threatening to kill Haokip. He filed a case saying two people asked members of a WhatsApp group to murder him and one of them promised to give his "village land" to anyone who claims the life of the BJP spokesperson.
The CM said govt will punish the attackers and take action against officers for not ensuring security despite threats.
