Ghaziabad: Three persons were arrested from Sector 47 service road on Sunday for allegedly cheating people after offering high returns from investments in share trading. Police said they would later flee with the money collected from their targets. The accused stole Rs 5 lakh on Friday.
The accused—Nishant Chauhan (25), Gaurav Bhati (24), and Sagar Bhati (25), alias Sanky—are all residents of Salarpur, Sector 45, Noida.
A fourth accused is currently absconding.
“Atin Saxena, a resident of Moradabad, lodged a complaint that the accused contacted him via Telegram, luring him with investments in trading to Sector 48 on Aug 23 evening.
Additional DCP Manish Mishra said, “Nishant, Sagar and their accomplice, picked up Saxena in Sagar’s car under the pretence of dropping him off at a further location. They then tricked him, stole his bag containing Rs 5 lakh, that he had brought along with him, and fled. The group kept illegal weapons for their protection. They were dividing the stolen money among themselves when the police caught them”.
