Ghaziabad/ Noida:
Ghaziabad registered a minimum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, possibly the highest to be recorded. It was 1.5° higher than Tuesday's 34 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature on Wednesday was 44 degrees Celsius.
Noida’s minimum temperature was clocked at 32 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, two degrees below 34 degrees Celsius recorded the previous day.
The maximum temperature soared to 45 degrees Celsius.
Ghaziabad's minimum temperature in the past six days hovered between 33 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius, while it remained between 32 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius in Noida.
This increase in temperature has led to a surge in heat-related illnesses among people exposed to the sun, resulting in more hospital admissions.
On Wednesday, traffic constable Sandeep Kumar fainted on duty due to dehydration at Maharshi Chowk in Noida. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is now out of danger.
In response, Noida’s district administration has issued a fresh advisory for heatwave conditions, urging people to stay indoors, especially from 12 noon to 3pm.
Residents are advised to wear light-coloured clothing, ensure adequate hydration, and take special care of children and the elderly.
As the cities continue to endure severe heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the monsoon may reach Delhi-NCR around June 30.
