Ghaziabad: A man and his son were found dead at their house in Vijay Vihar area of the city on Wednesday morning.
Police said the post-mortem examination confirmed that Raju (33), with a history of alcohol addiction and epileptic seizures, died of a heatstroke.
His father, Om Prakash (60), who suffered from asthma and respiratory distress, died of a liver infection.
According to doctors, heat stress can worsen existing ailments and comorbidities.
The two lived together on the first floor of a building in Budh Nagar Colony. Om Prakash’s second son Bunty lived with his family on the ground floor.
The room in which the duo lived lacked proper ventilation, according to the police.
ACP (Ankur Vihar) Bhasker Verma said that Bunty’s five-year-old daughter spotted Om Prakash’s body at the door of his room on Wednesday morning. Raju’s body was inside the room.
“The family alerted police, who took the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. There were no external injury marks,” ACP Verma said.
The ACP said neighbours told investigators that the duo had a heated argument around 1.30am the night before.
“Cops initially thought Raju may have beaten Om Prakash, who suffered from asthma and respiratory distress, while under the influence of alcohol. And the two may have succumbed to the heat as their room lacked proper ventilation,” said a police officer.
“Police teams are investigating all aspects of the case,” the ACP added.
