The injured persons are Usma (26) and Arsh Rahman (04).
Dinesh P Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police said that on Wednesday late night, we received information that a few people were trapped inside the house and fire surrounded the area. Immediately, the fire department along with local cops reached the spot and police found two injured persons from the ground floor and took them to nearby hospital. While the other persons were trapped on the first and second floor of the house. We doused the flame and recovered five bodies including two children from the second floor as they didn't reach the terrace due to heavy smoke.
“On the ground floor of the house, some thermocol cups along with foam material were stored and due to this, fire increased in no time and surrounded the building,” he said.
Rahul Pal, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) said that after getting information about the incident, initially two fire tenders were sent but later we called two more. The road towards the house was narrow and the fire tenders could not reach the spot. Then fire officers laid the hose-pipes more than 600 meters to take water to the building. It took more than five hours to control the situation.
“The cause of the fire seems to be a short circuit and then the car standing on the ground floor also caught fire. When the fire department inspected the house, they found a small compressor and a mould machine was there and some residues of such clothing material was there which may have escalated the fire,” fire department said.
