Coimbatore: A male wild elephant ransacked a shop selling puja products on the foothills of Velliangiriandavar temple at Poondi in the district on Monday. According to the forest department, the elephant came to the area in the evening and started to ransack the shop.
Boluvampatti forest range officer Suseendranath said the frontline staff rushed to the spot and safely chased the elephant into the forest area.
No one was injured in the incident. "We will deploy additional manpower on the temple premises during evening hours to prevent human-elephant conflict," he added.
