Guv nominates Nilgiris prof to Bharathiar univ syndicate
Udhagamandalam: Governor R N Ravi has directly nominated a computer science professor from the Nilgiris to Bharathiar University as its syndicate member.
A press release from the Raj Bhavan in Chennai said the governor, who is also the chancellor of the state universities, had nominated Dr B L Shivakumar, 51, as the syndicate member of Bharathiar University for a period of three years with effect from August 19, 2024.

Hailing from Bandumai, a Badaga village in Coonoor taluk, Shivakumar is currently the principal of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore.
Shivakumar is also a fellow member of the Institution of Engineers (India), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and International Scientific Research Organization for Science, Engineering and Technology. He has also been an adjunct professor with Perdana University, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, since 2023.
Born on February 24, 1973, Shivakumar did his schooling at Holy Innocents High School at Wellington and St Joseph’s Boys Higher secondary School in Coonoor. He completed his postgraduation in computer science from Bharathidasan University in Trichy and his doctorate from Bharathiar University.
With an experience of 25 years in research and teaching, Shivakumar has supervised at least 11 research students so far. Presently, six students are doing their research under him.
