Coimbatore: Chief minister M K Stalin on Tuesday said all the
DMK allies, including the VCK, would be participating in the party's diamond jubilee celebrations in Kanchipuram on September 28.
His statement comes amidst the tension in the DMK alliance that was triggered by remarks on power sharing by VCK's president Thol Thirumavalavan and its deputy general secretary Aadhav Arjuna.
Stalin said Thirumavalavan, along with leaders of other alliance parties, would be participating in a public meeting in Kanchipuram, which was a ‘celebration with ideological kin'.
Prior to the celebrations, Stalin said he would visit New Delhi to meet
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sept 26 and 27 to seek funds for various projects in
Tamil Nadu. "We have to fight for every right with the Union govt which denies the rights of states. Though we are running govt, we are continuing our fight for our rights,'' he said.
Stalin said he would lay the foundation stone for the Rs9,000-crore Tata plant to manufacture Jaguar Landrover cars at Panappakam industrial estate in Ranipet on September 28. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran would be present.
Stalin said when the DMK raised the slogan for welfare of Tamil, Tamilians and Tamil Nadu, there was criticism that it was a narrow view. But the slogan gives a broader meaning of language, race and federal rights and has people of all states realize that upholding their federal rights would only protect democracy in the country, he said.
