Vij confines himself to his constituency
Chandigarh: Even though Haryana’s former home minister Anil Vij has expressed keenness for the ‘top post’ in case the BJP wins in Haryana, the leader seems reluctant to campaign beyond his own constituency.
A six time MLA, Vij is popular across the state, and his position was consolidated during his tenure as the home minister. “His popularity soared because of the Janata Darbars, which helped him reach out to people from across the state,” said a source.
Notably, Vij had also refrained from campaigning during the Lok Sabha polls, as he was angry over not being consulted about the change of guard.
However, Vij claimed that his name has not been included in the list of star campaigners. “I don't want to add to the expenses incurred in campaigning outside the constituency in my account. My name is not there in the list of star campaigners. Hence, I express helplessness even if any colleague asks me to campaign for him or her. We are helping them by telling our people in their area to extend full support on my behalf,’’ said Vij.
