Rourkela: The IIC of Mahulpada police station in Sundargarh district’s Bonai sub-division suffered a minor injury on his palm on Tuesday afternoon when a mentally-challenged man shot an arrow at him from the rooftop of a school.
The man has been on the roof of the govt upper primary school since Sunday, causing fear among students, teachers and locals.
It has forced students to attend classes at another school.
On Tuesday, IIC Suresh Chandra Pradhan and his team tried to reach the school’s roof. But the man shot an arrow at Pradhan, hitting him in his palm and causing a minor injury. Pradhan received treatment at Bonai sub-divisional hospital before returning to the site.
Despite efforts by the fire brigade and police teams to bring the man down, they did not succeed till the time of going to press. “Efforts are on to bring down the man,” said Brijesh Kumar Rai, SP, Rourkela.
