Elderly woman raped at under-construction building in Kolar

Bhopal: In a shocking incident, a woman aged more than 60 years was allegedly assaulted and raped by an unidentified man at an under-construction building at Banskhedi in Kolar area on Monday afternoon.
Police said that the elderly woman collects scrap to support her family. She said that on Monday around 4 pm, she reached an under-construction building in the Banskhedi area near Siddhi Saffron City Colony.While she was picking up scrap, a man called her and asked her to collect cardboards lying on the first floor of the building. As the woman went to the first floor of the building, the accused pounced on her. He dragged her to the backside of a room where he assaulted her and raped her. The woman sustained severe bruises as the accused pushed her to the ground and brutally raped her.
Police said that the woman stated that after the incident, the accused fled the spot. The elderly woman, who sustained injuries and bruises, took around an hour to muster strength and then managed to return home. She narrated the incident to her family members, after which the incident was reported to Kolar police.
Police were scanning CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the identity of the culprit.
SHO Kolar Sanjay Singh Soni said that the elderly woman stated that the accused was aged between 25 and 30 years and was wearing black trousers and a white shirt. She revealed that there was a gap between his front two teeth. Police are searching for the accused on the basis of the appearance description given by the woman.
SHO Soni said that police have alerted their informer network. Assistance of the cyber-crime branch was being taken to trace the accused. Construction work at the building is halted and the accused took advantage of the desolated spot.
