Bhopal: A man axed his wife to death in Ashok Nagar's Shankar Colony before turning himself in at a local police station on Friday.
The incident took place between 8.30am and 9am, when the couple-- Dashrath Rajak and his wife Kiran (36)—had the house to themselves as the kids had left for school.
Kiran and Dashrath got married in 2003. She had previously worked as a househelp but was forced to leave her job 1.5 year ago, on Dashrath's suspicions.
Unemployed himself, Dashrath frequently harassed Kiran to bring money from her family, and she endured repeated physical abuse.
According to Kiran's brother, her family had provided financial assistance several times.
After committing the crime, Dashrath locked their house and went to a police station where he confessed to the murder. Police then reached the scene and questioned neighbours and relatives.
The body was then sent for a postmortem examination.
Police have registered a case of murder against the accused.
