Bengaluru:
BJP on Tuesday criticised the govt for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, claiming group clashes and crimes are going unchecked because Congress is worried over whether
Siddaramaiah would continue as chief minister.
Opposition leader R Ashoka accused the govt of being on "vacation" and ministers of relishing "Hyderabadi biryani" in the guise of attending a cabinet meeting in Kalaburagi.
He expressed concern over rising incidents of communal violence and said the govt has failed to address the issue resulting in such incidents "spreading like a wildfire". He accused the home department of allegedly engaging with individuals inciting violence instead of penalising them.
"The govt is worried about the high court verdict in the Muda case involving the chief minister and it has neglected the severe communal violence affecting the state," Ashoka said. "Ministers are more focused on their future and personal gain rather than on effective governance."
Ashoka dismissed reports that Union minister HD Kumaraswamy had doled out compensation to a Muslim community member, calling it an internal JD(S) matter.
