Bengaluru: A detailed report by regional transport officials stated the BMTC bus that rammed into four vehicles on KR Pura hanging bridge and mowed down a motorist on Aug 30 night was in good condition.
The claims made by the bus driver, Venkatesh Babu, that brake failure led to the accident, are false, according to the report.
Around 9.45pm on the fateful day, the bus heading in the city direction on Old Madras Road had rammed a Bullet motorbike and then a truck, which in turn collided with a BMTC bus on the down ramp of the bridge.
Motorist J Suprith, 33, of Mysuru, who was working with a mall in Hebbal, had died. KR Pura traffic police station had sought RTO help in inspecting the technical condition of the bus.
DCP (Traffic-East) Kuldeep Kumar Jain said the cause of the accident was sheer negligence of the driver. "We will continue the investigation and chargesheet the driver," he said.
