Bengaluru: In the backdrop of a communal clash in Nagamangala in Mandya district, Bengaluru police have issued guidelines for Monday's Eid Milad festival, banning the usage of DJs and shouting in front of places of worship to prevent untoward incidents.
Police have restricted the movement of vehicles in a few places. City police commissioner B Dayananda said on Friday cops had a meeting with community leaders and issued a few guidelines to be followed.
A massive procession will be passing through YMCA Ground, Quddus Saheb Eidgah Maidan, Shivajinagar Chota Maidan, and surrounding places.
People participating in the procession must ensure they don't cause inconvenience to the public and should maintain peace. They shouldn't carry any weapons or use DJs. The tableaux in the procession shouldn't be provocative.
Shouting slogans in front of places of worship such as temples and churches is restricted, Dayananda said.
The organisers should be in touch with Bescom officials and should ensure that their tableaux won't come in contact with electrical wires. They should also carry fire extinguishers. After the procession, people travelling on two-wheelers shouldn't go triple riding. The usage of mics and speakers is allowed only from 6am to 10pm, Dayananda said.
Traffic police have imposed restrictions on vehicular movement on certain roads and suggested some alternative routes.
