Bareilly: Twenty one persons were injured when a speeding bus carrying nearly 50 passengers overturned into a ditch after colliding with a car on the Shahjahanpur-Lakhimpur state highway on Sunday.
Police said both vehicles were speeding, and the car driver was attempting to overtake the bus. The car was completely damaged, and driver Pradeep Kumar , sole occupant of the vehicle, was critically injured.
Police rescued the bus passengers, and ambulances took the 20 injured persons to the hospital.
Mohammadi SHO Ambar Singh said, “The condition of Pradeep Kumar (28) is critical, and we sent him to Shahjahanpur Medical College. The other victims are stable and admitted to a community health centre in Mohammadi.”
