Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The local crime branch (LCB) of Govt Railway Police (GRP) arrested a 25-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh yesterday in connection to a porter’s murder at the city’s railway station eight days ago.
The accused, Anil Sevakram Uike of Sukvi village in Khandwa district, has been remanded to five days of police custody.
On Aug 8, the GRP had found the victim’s body with his head bludgeoned with a heavy boulder under the railway foot overbridge.
Establishing his identity was a challenge, especially due to the absence of any CCTV coverage, superintendent of police (GRP) Swati Bhor said.
As of yet, nothing has come on record to show that the accused and the victim knew each other.
