Ahmedabad: Shahibaug police registered a case against 20-year-old Ankit Thakor, a resident of Asarwa, who was allegedly seen on social media carrying a machete. In a viral video, Thakor was purportedly standing near a traffic cop on duty.
Police have registered a case against Thakor. The complaint has been registered by Raghuvirsingh Pratapsingh, a cop at the Shahibaug police station, who stated that he, along with other cops, was on patrol when they came across a viral video on social media showing a person holding a machete.
Upon further investigation, the video was found to be near the Hanuman Temple beside the Civil Hospital.
According to the complaint, the cops began searching for the person, and at around 8.40pm near Asarwa Rajnagar Mill, the person seen in the video was found standing in public with a machete in his hand. The FIR stated that, suspecting he might harm someone, the person was apprehended with the machete. The person then identified himself as Ankit Thakor, a resident of Asarwa.
Thakor was arrested after he was found in possession of an illegal machete, violating the commissioner of police's notification banning the carrying of such weapons in public.
