Agra: A court in Agra district has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for stabbing a man to death after he refused to marry his daughter to one of the accused. Additional District Judge Dinesh Tiwari handed down the sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 41,000 on both convicts. The case dates back to Feb 2020, when Surajmukhi, a resident of Mahal village in Sikandra, filed a complaint against Mithun, who was pressuring her daughter to marry him.
Her husband, Bablu Kumar, opposed the marriage.
Subsequently Mithun, along with his associate Tulsidas alias Kanchi, stabbed Bablu to death and dumped his body in a drain. The body was recovered by police eight days later. Mithun, originally from Sagar Pada in Dholpur district, worked as an auto-rickshaw driver in Agra. “The case was registered on Feb 10, 2020 and both Mithun and Tulsidas were arrested the following day. The knife used in the crime and blood-stained clothes were recovered from the accused,” said ADGC Manhal Singh.
Inspector Arvind Kumar led the investigation and filed a chargesheet in court on May 8, 2020. “During the trial, eight witnesses, including the doctor who conducted the post-mortem, testified. Rejecting the pleas of the accused men for leniency, the court, sentenced the two to life imprisonment,” the ADGC added.
