Agra: Three members of a family, including a woman and her two children, died on the spot when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle near Gurja village on the Agra-Fatehabad road under Dauki police station area on Wednesday.
Police officials said Ashish Kumar (32), a resident of Azad Nagar in Hariparvat area, was travelling with his mother Kalawati (50) and sister Anjali (21) to visit Tanari village in the Bah area.
Near Gurja village, a speeding truck hit their motorcycle, flinging all three riders a considerable distance.
They succumbed to their injuries within moments. Locals said the truck driver dragged the bike up to 70m. A few people threw stones at the truck to stop it, and the driver, who was trying to flee, was caught. ACP Fatehabad Amardeep Lal said, “The speeding truck driver was trying to overtake and hit the bike from the opposite direction. The truck driver, who was trying to flee, has been arrested. An FIR will be registered based on the complaint received from the family members of the deceased.”
Ashish was the eldest of three siblings and was preparing for the staff selection commission exam. Anjali was married last year. Ashish’s father, Satendra, works as a private security guard.
