Manas National Park, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans across the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri and Darrang. The national park is famous for its diverse ecosystems that include lush grasslands, dense forests, and the meandering Manas River. But most importantly, it has made a special place in the hearts of wildlife enthusiasts as a safe home for numerous endangered species, including the Bengal tiger, Indian one-horned rhinoceros, wild water buffalo, and Indian elephant.

Manas National Park has a very active and interesting safari scene going on. Here are some interesting facts about safari in Manas National Park.

Manas National Park is famous for water buffalo, elephant, tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and Himalayan bear to name some. Also fun fact, Manas National Park is the only place in the world where you will get to see the critically endangered pygmy hog. If you are lucky, of course.

There are jeep safaris to the Bansbari Zone and Bhuyanpara zone. It will cost you INR 4500 and INR 5500 respectively. Only five people are allowed in one jeep. There are morning safaris from (6:30 AM - 9:30 AM, and 10 AM - 1 PM), and evening safaris from (02:00 PM - 5:00 PM). The price includes jeep, driver, permit, and gateway charges.

Jungle safari in Manas National Park is best done over a span of two to three days. That’s how you will be able to cover the entire park.

How to Reach? The Manas National Park is located at a distance of 196 km from Guwahati airport. It usually takes around three hours to reach Manas National Park from the airport. There are cabs on hire from Guwahati to Manas National park.

Best time to visit Manas National Park? The best time to visit Manas National Park is during the winter months, from November to April. The weather is relatively dry and cool, and the park is lush. Also, this is the peak tourist season in Manas National Park.
