The announcement of Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour” dates in India, scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, at Mumbai's DY Patil Sports Stadium, caused an overwhelming rush for tickets. The band, which last performed in India in 2016, has a massive fanbase in the country, and demand for tickets was intense. On the day of the ticket release, a reported 1.3 crore fans accessed BookMyShow, leading to technical glitches, including server crashes and long waitlists.



Many fans were left disappointed as they were unable to secure tickets through the official platform. Adding to their frustration, unauthorised resale platforms such as Viagogo and Gigsberg listed Coldplay tickets at inflated prices far exceeding the official rates. While tickets on BookMyShow were priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 12,500, with premium seats costing Rs 35,000, resellers were reportedly charging significantly higher amounts.

In response to the growing concerns about ticket scalping and reselling, BookMyShow issued an official statement distancing itself from unauthorised platforms. The company made it clear that it had no association with resellers like Viagogo or Gigsberg and condemned the illegal practice of ticket scalping, which is punishable by law in India. BookMyShow warned fans to avoid purchasing tickets from unauthorised sources, as these tickets could be fake and lead to financial losses.



BookMyShow also filed a formal police complaint against the resellers. The platform reassured fans that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities to combat ticket scalping. They reiterated that tickets purchased through unauthorised sellers would be considered invalid and emphasised that BookMyShow is the sole authorised seller for Coldplay’s India concerts. Fans were urged to stay vigilant and only buy tickets from legitimate sources to avoid falling victim to scams.

Coldplay 2025 India Tour: Anticipation and concert details

Despite the ticketing challenges, excitement surrounding Coldplay’s return to India remains high. The band is set to perform as part of their “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” which has already sold over 10 million tickets globally since it began in March 2022. Coldplay’s Mumbai concerts will feature a blend of their classic hits, such as "Yellow," "Fix You," "Clocks," and "Viva La Vida," along with new songs from their upcoming album Moon Music. Fans can expect to hear tracks like "We Pray" and "feelslikeimfallinginlove" live.

To make the concert more accessible to fans, Coldplay will offer a limited number of ‘Infinity Tickets’ priced at approximately Rs 2,000 each. These tickets, available in pairs, aim to provide more fans with the opportunity to attend the concert at an affordable price.
